Autism Friendly Dungarvan – Launch Night
We had an amazing evening at the official launch of Autism Friendly Dungarvan, and we’re still blown away by the outpouring of support, encouragement, and community spirit shown in the room and online
This initiative means a lot to us, and seeing how many people turned out, sent messages, and got behind the idea confirms just how ready Dungarvan is for this journey.
The launch night wasn’t just a celebration. It was a chance to inform the public, local services, and businesses about what’s ahead, and what it’s going to take to accomplish this together. Over the next three years, we’ll be working closely with our partners and the wider community to build a strong network of at least 30 trained Autism Champions across the public, voluntary, and business sectors.
These champions will be the heart of this movement, helping to make everyday life in Dungarvan more inclusive, understanding, and welcoming for autistic people and their families.
The evening itself was full of heart and warmth, with an incredible turnout and powerful speeches from a range of speakers. Special thanks to:
The Park Hotel Dungarvan, who hosted the event and made thoughtful adjustments to help everyone feel more comfortable.
Kieran Foley from WLR FM, our MC on the night, for guiding the event so smoothly and for all his support over the years.
Marc Daly, our photographer, for capturing the night beautifully and delivering the images so quickly.
Jacinta Carroll, Community Development Worker with SICAP (Waterford Area Partnership), for being our go-to mentor and helping in countless ways – from printing signage to just always being there.
William Nestor and Adam Harris from AsIAm.ie for their time, guidance, and continued support. We’re proud to be working with Adam and his team as we follow the 3-year framework developed by AsIAm to help towns like Dungarvan become more autism-friendly.
Shane Collins Designs, for the beautiful logo that perfectly captures the spirit of Dungarvan – and was turned around in record time. It still gets talked about.
David Power, for the striking slideshow on the night.
The many volunteers and committee members who helped plan, prepare, and pull the night together – your behind-the-scenes work is what made it all happen.
We were also deeply moved by the messages, videos and social media posts sent in advance from local groups and individuals. You showed up for us – and for our wider community. That energy will carry us through the work ahead.
Let’s make Dungarvan an Autism Friendly Town together."
Special thanks to All That Can Be – art of John Bermingham for allowing us to use this beautiful and fitting version of “Dungarvan, My Home Town” for our launch video.
