Fundraising is an essential part of what helps us grow Autism Friendly Dungarvan. It allows us to support new projects, meet the real needs of our community, and continue building a more inclusive town for autistic children, adults, and their families.
We’ve already seen the power of local support, from sponsored walks and school events to donations from businesses. Every euro raised goes back into the community to make Dungarvan more accessible, welcoming, and autism-aware.
Here are some of the key areas your support helps us build:
Our plan includes creating local social clubs for autistic children, teenagers, and adults. These clubs will offer a safe space to meet, share interests, make friends, and build confidence. Many autistic people face social isolation — we want to change that by creating relaxed, inclusive environments that feel welcoming and natural.
Fundraising helps cover the cost of equipment, venue hire, insurance, and activities, ensuring everyone feels included
With your support, we’ve been able to run inclusive events like our Same Chance Walk and Autism Friendly Family Areas at the St. Patrick’s Day parade.
These are more than just gatherings, they’re about making sure autistic families feel seen, supported, and part of something. Continued fundraising will help us run more events like these throughout the year.
We aim to provide sensory kits for local businesses, create calming spaces at public events, and expand our mobile sensory tent setup. These tools make a huge difference for autistic people navigating busy or unfamiliar environments.
We also plan to develop more permanent sensory-friendly spaces around town, including outdoor areas.
From non-uniform days to in-store donation drives, local schools and businesses have already helped raise funds and awareness.
These partnerships show the strength of our community and how working together can make lasting change.
If you’d like to host a fundraiser, make a donation, or sponsor a project, we’d love to hear from you. Every bit of support helps us grow.
To get involved, please email autismfriendlydungarvan@gmail.com or contact a member of the committee.
Together we can build something lasting, and show that inclusion isn’t a goal, it’s a community effort.
