🏆 Congratulations to Dungarvan Library – Fully Accredited Autism Friendly Champion! 📚
We are delighted to announce that Dungarvan Library has achieved Full Autism Friendly Champion Accreditation, recognising their commitment to creating a welcoming, understanding and accessible environment for everyone in our community.

The wonderful library team has successfully completed all of the Autism Friendly Champion requirements, including:
🔸️ Autism Friendly Champion Training
🔸️ Creating a comprehensive Social Story to help visitors know what to expect before they arrive
🔸️ Providing a dedicated Sensory Area for anyone who may need a quieter space
🔸️ Offering Sensory Boxes to borrow during visits
🔸️ Welcome Service Dogs

Dungarvan Library is so much more than a place to borrow books.
It is a valued community hub, offering a welcoming space where people of all ages can read, learn, study, attend events, use computers, access information, enjoy children's activities, explore sensory resources and connect with others.

While these supports make a huge difference for autistic individuals and their families, they also benefit so many others in our community, including people with sensory sensitivities, hidden disabilities, anxiety, dementia, older adults, young children, visitors who are unfamiliar with the library, and anyone who may appreciate a calmer, more accessible environment.

This is exactly what inclusion is about—making small, thoughtful changes that create a better experience for everyone.
