Year 1 Complete – The Journey Continues
Autism Friendly Dungarvan is now one year into our three-year journey to make Dungarvan a place where autistic people feel understood, supported, and truly welcome.
In just 12 months, so much has been achieved through hard work, learning, collaboration, and community support.
We’re proud to recognise the organisations who have completed training and are now fully recognised Autism Friendly Champions:
Waterford Festival of Food
Tournore Court Residents
Tranquil Elephant Clinic
Dungarvan Rugby Club
Coaching The Mind by David
We’re also delighted to see so many organisations currently on their journey towards becoming Champions:
Dungarvan Shopping Centre (Retail Outlets & Management)
Abbeyside AFC
Dungarvan Camogie Club
Ballinroad FC
Dungarvan Scouts Club
Waves Wellbeing, and many more
A major milestone this year has been securing a dedicated base, thanks to the support of Dungarvan Shopping Centre.
This allows us to deliver more training, support more organisations, and continue growing the number of Autism Friendly Champions across the town.
We also want to thank Colin and everyone at Dungarvan United for allowing us to use their clubhouse over the past year. That support meant everything in the early stages.
Thank you to every champion, supporter, volunteer, and partner who has helped us get to this point.
A special thank you to Jacinta from Buíon Port Láirge, William Nester from AsIAm, Amanda from Autastic, and WLR with Kieran Foley for their continued support and encouragement.
And most importantly, thank you to the people of Dungarvan for embracing inclusion and understanding.
This is just the beginning.
Year 2 is already underway, and we’ll continue building a more inclusive Dungarvan for everyone
