A huge thank you to Waterford City & County Council for facilitating a quieter, calmer day dedicated to the Sensory-Friendly Spooky Tunnel Experience in Dungarvan! 👏

For many autistic individuals and families, traditional Halloween attractions can be overwhelming due to loud noises, unexpected sounds and large crowds.
By making simple but meaningful adjustments, families were given the opportunity to enjoy the excitement and magic of Halloween in a more comfortable, relaxed and accessible environment.

❤️And it's important to remember that accommodations like these don't just benefit the autistic community!
They can make an enormous difference to people with a wide range of additional needs, sensory sensitivities, disabilities, or simply anyone who would prefer to enjoy an experience in a quieter, calmer environment.
When we make events more accessible, EVERYONE benefits!

It was wonderful to see this initiative introduced locally, and we hope it is something we can build upon and develop even further in 2027.

At Autism Friendly Dungarvan, we look forward to continuing to work alongside Waterford City & County Council and our local authorities on many future collaborations, helping to make public events and community experiences throughout Dungarvan more accessible, welcoming and inclusive for everyone.
