The Autism Friendly Towns Link & Learn Day Event with AsIAm
Today, some of the Autism Friendly Dungarvan Committee attended the Autism Friendly Towns Link & Learn Day with AsIAm. It was a valuable opportunity for communities, advocates, and organisations to come together, share learning, strengthen connections, and celebrate inclusion.
The morning session included a series of insightful presentations. Adam Harris, CEO and Founder of AsIAm, spoke about the role of Autism Friendly Towns in achieving the AsIAm strategy through national engagement. William Nestor, Autism Friendly Towns Manager, discussed the importance of maintaining high standards of governance across Autism Friendly Towns. Niamh Mellerick, Director of Operations, focused on designing inclusive events, looking at environments, activities, and identity. The session also included community voices centred on keeping our communities safe, connected, and empowered.
It was great to meet so many people from other Autism Friendly Towns involved in the programme and to make new connections along the way. Sensory toolkits were kindly sponsored by PTSB and provided to each committee, which was a very welcome support.
We look forward to continuing our journey to make Dungarvan an Autism Friendly Town, with the guidance of AsIAm and the ongoing support of our community.
