Inclusive Rugby Taster Camp completed at Dungarvan Rugby Club

Dungarvan RFC Leads the Way with Munster’s First-Ever Taster Inclusion Rugby Camp.

Dungarvan Rugby Football Club is proud to be the first club in Munster to launch a Taster Inclusion Rugby Camp, a pioneering four-week programme designed to introduce children with additional needs to rugby in a fun, safe, and supportive environment.

Inclusion rugby has been growing steadily across Munster, with many clubs already leading the way through established disability and Mixed-Ability sections. Dungarvan’s initiative follows in their footsteps, while offering a different approach, a short format, taster style experience. Unlike traditional multi-day camps, this structure gives children and their families the chance to explore rugby gently over four weekly sessions, helping them build confidence before committing further.

At the heart of the initiative is community. The camp is powered by dedicated volunteers from within the club, including parents and youth players, making it a genuine whole club effort. Sessions will be led by Conall Fitzpatrick of Munster Rugby, with support from Waterford Sports Partnership, ensuring that every child is met where they are and supported fully throughout.

The programme proudly reflects the values of the IRFU’s Spirit of Rugby Charter, Respect, Integrity, Inclusivity, Fun, and Excellence. These principles guide every aspect of the camp, creating an environment where all players are welcomed, valued, and encouraged to thrive.

Dungarvan RFC is honoured to contribute to the inclusive rugby movement in Munster, one taster session at a time.

We were delighted to both attend and support the camp by providing our Sensory Gazebo for everyone to enjoy.

Well done Dungarvan Rugby Club Waterford Sports Partnership Munster Rugby Club and all the volunteers & participants who showed up every week for tag rugby, movement, play and plenty of fun & fresh air.
What a fantastic community we have!

DRC completed their Autism Champion Training with us prior to the taster camp increasing their awareness and understanding.

We look forward to supporting them in the future as they work towards achieving their Autism Champion Accreditation by completing all requirements which they are well on their way to accomplishing.
