🏉 Dungarvan Rugby Club Named Dungarvan’s First Autism Friendly Champion Sports Club!
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Dungarvan Rugby Club has officially become Dungarvan’s first Autism Friendly Champion Sports Club — a powerful step forward for inclusion in our town!
Their commitment to accessibility, understanding, and neurodiversity has been nothing short of inspiring. Through consistent effort, community spirit, and a true passion for making everyone feel welcome, they have met all the requirements of the Autism Friendly Champion programme — and then some.
🏆 Today, we proudly presented them with their Autism Champion Certificate and official window sticker in recognition of their achievement.
Here’s what they’ve done so far:
✔️ Completed our Autism Friendly Champion Training
✔️ Shared this training with coaches, committee, volunteers, and families
✔️ Hosted an Inclusion Rugby Camp — with more on the way
✔️ Created a visual guide to support autistic players
✔️ Already had a communication board in place
✔️ Provide a relaxed, sensory-aware space for players who need it
Their message is clear:
“Our doors are open to everyone. We want every child and adult to feel welcome, valued, and part of our rugby community.”
