🍴 Dungarvan’s First Autism Friendly Champions – Waterford Festival of Food! 🎉
We are incredibly proud to officially announce Dungarvan’s very first Autism Friendly Champions, the Waterford Festival of Food! 🏆💜
After completing all requirements and showing a sincere commitment to accessibility, inclusion, and community spirit, the Festival of Food team were presented today with their Autism Friendly Champion Certificate and Window Sticker. ♾️
The entire team went above and beyond to ensure this year’s festival was a welcoming experience for everyone — and they were a pleasure to work with from start to finish.
Autism Friendly accommodations included:
✅ Quiet Hours from 10:00–11:00 AM to create a calmer space
✅ Fast Track access for people with additional needs (Carers Card, AsIAm Card, Sunflower Lanyard)
✅ Additional Needs Car Park near the centre of the festival
✅ Sensory supports and trained volunteers/staff throughout the event
✅ Social Stories created for each event to support predictability and reduce anxiety
A heartfelt thank you to CEO Eunice Power and the entire festival team for their compassion, openness, and dedication to making Dungarvan a more inclusive place.
We’re already looking forward to collaborating again for the 2026 Festival of Food, with even more ideas and improvements to make it another inclusive success.
